Paris, FR

Rest is the label and personal practice of french/canadian knitwear designer, artisan and natural dyer Charli Coma. Halftime in-studio, halftime wandering in between big cities and secluded havens, she finds joy in the repetitive practice of the hands, slowly building tangible objects that can only take shape in the movement. Behind her practice lies a deep curiosity for where things come from and how they’re made. Her transdisciplinary approach is informed by her background in Women’s Studies and Ethics, where she learned the manifold dimensions of care. She ended up studying natural dyeing with Lise Camoin and Magali Bontoux at Couleur Garance in the South of France. With a focus on wool, her practice is protean as she experiments with several mediums such as knitting, printing, weaving or felting. Inspired by traditional crafts and their inherent stories of transmission, she cares to protect, preserve, and mend our interwoven relations.

Available for commissions, collaborations and selected projects.
